Ternyata… credit DigitalOcean ada masa berlakunya

Pagi ini pas ngecek email dapat surat cinta dari DigitalOcean. Sayang isinya kok bikin galau. Haha. 😀 Jadi credit (saldo) yang ada dalam akun akan kadaluarsa bulan Mei 2016 nanti.  Dan ini bukan April Mop walaupun sekarang tanggal 1 April. Padahal masih ada belasan USD didalamnya. 🙁 Memang sangat jarang saya gunakan dan saya mengisi creditnya pun tahun 2013 lalu.

Berikut potongan isi emailnya:

We hope that you’ve been enjoying your experience on DigitalOcean! We want to give you a heads up that you have credit that will be expiring on May 1st. You’re able to use that remaining credit in the month of April.

As of March 2015, we revised our Terms of Service announcing that we’re no longer able to offer credits that do not expire, and any unused credit added to your account more than 12 months ago will expire. Our top priority is to continue to re-invest back into our hardware, product, and features to build the best experience for our customers.

Promotional Credit

5.8 As of March 6, 2015, redemption of promotional credit is limited to 12 months from the date of issue (unless otherwise stated), at which time the credit will expire. Upon redemption, promotional credit expires after 12 months unless otherwise defined in the terms of the promotion. For instances where promotional credit was issued or redeemed prior to March 6, 2015, that credit will expire on March 6, 2016.

5.9 Only one promotional code is permitted per customer, and may be redeemed only by “new users,” defined as users who are within 30 days of launching their first Droplet.

Referral Credit

5.10 Earned credit from making a referral is limited to 12 months from the date of issue (unless otherwise stated), at which time the credit will expire. All referral payouts will be paid in DigitalOcean credit.

5.11 Sign-up credit earned via referral will expire in accordance with the terms stated in section

5.12. Furthermore, such credit will be counted as the one promotional code permitted, in accordance with the terms stated in section 5.9.

Setelah memahami bagaimana sistemnya ternyata yang bisa expired adalah credit yang berasal dari promosi dan referral. Masa berlakunya adalah 12 bulan. Kesimpulannya credit yang murni dari pembayaran maka tidak akan hangus walaupun tidak digunakan, atau sampai ada perubahan ketentuan layanan lagi. Apabila credit anda berasal dari mengajak (calon) pelanggan lain tampaknya lebih baik diuangkan daripada dijadikan credit.

Karena sudah dapat peringatan bahwa 1 bulan lagi credit akun DigitalOcean saya akan expired tampaknya dalam sebulan ini saya akan membuat banyak tutorial instalasi. Entah apa, yang penting jangan sampai mubazir. Kalau ada ide silahkan diajukan. 🙂

Sekarang saya juga sedang mengajukan support ticket untuk memperpanjang masa berlakunya. Kalau bisa. Tidak yakin diterima tapi setidaknya berusaha lah. Hehe. 🙂

We can certainly understand your concern on this matter. We are beginning to enforce the expiration of credits. This would mean that credits on the account (not related to payments from PayPal) would expire after a year’s time.

After reviewing the situation at hand, I am sorry to say we will not be able to re-apply the credits onto the account for you. Please do understand that, moving forward, any unused balance from account credits will expire and be removed from your account 12 months after the credit is redeemed.
